Techniques for diminishing radiation exposure during diagnostic imaging procedures while maintaining image quality.

Abstract
Introduction: Diagnostic imaging is crucial in modern healthcare for accurate diagnosis and treatment guidance, yet concerns about radiation exposure persist. This study explores techniques to reduce radiation exposure while maintaining image quality, crucial for patient safety and cost-effective healthcare delivery. Materials and Methods: This prospective observational study included 50 adult patients undergoing various imaging procedures. Low-dose protocols were implemented, and radiation doses and image quality were compared with standard protocols. Data on demographics, radiation doses, and image quality were collected and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests. Results: Participants were evenly distributed by gender (50% male, 50% female), with a mean age of 35 years. Low-dose protocols significantly reduced radiation exposure across all modalities (CT: 33% reduction in DLP; fluoroscopy: 28.6% reduction in DAP; X-ray: 37.5% reduction in ESD). Image quality metrics (SNR, CNR) were comparable between low-dose and standard protocols, with high patient satisfaction reported. Conclusion: Implementing low-dose imaging protocols offers a promising approach to mitigate radiation exposure without compromising diagnostic accuracy. Further research is needed to validate these findings and explore additional outcomes, with the potential to enhance patient care and healthcare cost-effectiveness.
