The fulfillment of speech acts in the poetic speech of Qatari bin Al-Fuja'ah
BELHIS Chaima, MESSAS Djemaa
Abstract
This study delves into the illocutionary aspects of speech acts within the poetry of Qatari bin Al-Fuja'ah, using John Searle's classification as a foundational reference. Our methodology employs a pragmatic linguistic approach to elucidate the poet's underlying objectives and communicative intentions. These have been instrumental in amplifying his voice and articulating a spectrum of issues. Our findings highlight the pivotal speech acts that have directed recipients, facilitated interactive engagement, and underscored the illocutionary force inherent in the poet's choice of expressions. These speech acts have contributed to creating an impact and aided in persuading the addressees. Furthermore, our analysis sheds light on the poet's adeptness in influencing and channelling his creative energy.
