VISUAL OUTCOME IN HERPES ZOSTER OPTIC NEURITIS - A CASE REPORT

Abstract
We report a case of optic neuritis secondary to Herpes zoster ophthalmicus (HZO) in a middle- aged man. He presented with sudden loss of vision in the right eye.Clinical examination and MRI scan revealed optic neuritis in the affected eye. After vigorous treatment with intravenous Acyclovir and steroid his visual acuity improved within one month. After six months post treatment his vision and fundus were normal. Acyclovir maybe effective in HZO optic neuritis.
